    Second Life

The cats are away.  It's Friday afternoon at the office and all the lawyers are gone.  It's just us girls and we're trying hard to get nothing done.  The phones are getting answered, but that's about it.  I don't see any words being processed or any documents being generated.  These mice want to play.

This mouse just spent two hours on Second Life shopping with a girlfriend.  Or at least I think she is a girlfriend.  You never know with Second Life.  I got this great tiny black dress and hair that looks like Jennifer Aniston's.  For free!  I made my boobs bigger, my waist and feet smaller, and my lips fuller.  And my friend gave me an animation that makes my avitar walk like Marilyn Monroe.  Weeeee....I wish it were this easy in real life.

But it's a SECOND life.  You'd think I'd go on safari or climb a mountain.   Anything but go shopping with a girlfriend.  This is what I do in my first life.  I guess habits die hard...my avatar may even take up drinking.

I had a cup of coffee with a girlfriend in Barcelona, Spain on Second Life last week.  After that we shopped a little (of course).  Then we went to the beach where I changed into a bathing suit my friend loaned me.  We walked on the beach and talked...in Spanish.  This whole exchange was in Spanish.  It was awesome and I learned so many new words.  Pechos grandes, por ejemplo.  Yesterday I wrote about how I felt deprived about not being able to travel.  Now I'm feeling just a little bit pathetic reading this.  My travel is online.....and I'm really enjoying it.....oh no.

So if you're on Second Life look me up, I'm Karli Daviau and I like to travel.

    Hi Carol,
So glad your blogging again as I do enjoy reading them. Sometimes its fun to live vicariously through someone else even if it is an avatar. sounds like fun. Have a great day!...Colleen

I just got caught up with your two blogs since your blog-break in March. Whew! I was worried as I started them that I would be missing the annual announcement (and visual as I read it) of the new season's bikini additions to Carol's wardrobe. OK, OK, I got a 2008 wardrobe sampling: a 'tiny' bikini, you say. I think last year's was two new bikini's, one of which was brown. How good is my piggish male memory? HaHaHa ;-) Maybe I'm off by a year and that was a 2006 item. Not bad that I have quite the memory and don't have any of this interesting data written down on paper (paper means my little black book -- filed under C for if-i-ever-get-to-Chicago-someday). HaHa. (Scary thought, I know. :-)

Now to serious stuff in a moment of Noonie-weakness ... I never heard of Second Life. Sounds like it might be quite mesmerizning, though. If I think of it another evening, I'll have to check it out.

Well, tis 9 pm out east here. I should shuffle some papers before finding a show or movie to watch. I've been on a working binge and just can't seem, or want, to not work. Things are busy for me. Pechos grande, eh? lol. Spanish is my second language. I learned it growing up. Happy mid-July to ya, Carol!

I loved Second Life. I was able to practice my German and very weak French. I played my sax with a band online using mics. But within weeks I became addicted and it sucked up all my free time. Suzy doesn't usually come down hard on things I do, but in this case she did. And when she does, I listen. I quit cold turkey. It was probably a good thang.

One of my dear friends from SL blogs annonymously about the experience. (If that link doesn't work you can get to it through my friends list.) She has some virtual marriage experiences and rented Suzy and me her (and her real husband's) SL love nest for a weekend. It was so cool. Lots to do in that world.
